Raad F.-A.                                                 DOI: 10.31862/2218-8711-2026-2-9-19

Abstract.

The study of the philosophy of love and freedom in the works of Khalil Gibran (1883–1931) is of particular interest to contemporary humanities, as the ideas of the Lebanese thinker reveal a synthesis of Eastern and Western philosophical traditions, where poetry becomes a means of comprehending truth. In an era of rationalism and materialism, turning to the spiritual foundations of human existence acquires special significance. The purpose of this article is to reveal the philosophical foundations of the concepts of love and freedom in the works of Khalil Gibran, to identify their internal interconnection and religious-existential meaning. The study is based on an analysis of Gibran‘s poetic and philosophical texts using comparative-philosophical and hermeneutic methods, as well as conceptual comparisons with the ideas of Martin Heidegger, Søren Kierkegaard, Jean-Paul Sartre, Augustine, and Erich Fromm. The uniqueness of the study lies in its emphasis on the deep interconnection between the spiritual, philosophical, and artistic principles in Gibran‘s work, which allows for a new understanding of the universal values of human existence.
